Staff Systems Engineer, SAR Signal Processing (Remote - United States)

Lead the development of high-throughput synthetic aperture radar processors for satellite imagery. Own signal-processing systems from algorithm definition through integration, verification, and near-real-time performance optimization.

Description

  • Lead the definition, specification, risk management, integration, verification, and validation of new and existing SAR processors
  • Oversee the development of interface control documents
  • Ensure hardware and software components integrate effectively across the ground or space segment
  • Balance theoretical algorithm design with implementation constraints on the operational processor
  • Diagnose the root causes of processing errors and image artefacts, then develop mitigations
  • Improve processing performance to support near-real-time operation
  • Contribute to mission design trade-off studies
  • Mentor members of the engineering team
  • Provide technical guidance to senior management and new business initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, mathematics, physics, or an equivalent field
  • At least 12 years of experience in an engineering environment
  • At least 5 years working with complex signal-processing systems, such as radar, medical imaging, or computer vision
  • At least 10 years in large-scale product development or systems engineering
  • Strong understanding of high-speed, high-throughput data analysis and transmission system design
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical, sales, executive, and customer audiences
  • US citizenship or permanent residency
  • Preferred: experience with SAR remote sensing, including system design, operation, exploitation, and calibration
  • Preferred: experience designing and operating satellite SAR payloads
  • Preferred: experience with FPGA- or ASIC-based system design
  • Preferred: experience working with geospatial data
