Description

  • Design, develop, and release services and APIs for money movement and financial integrations
  • Manage payments, settlements, reconciliation, and corrections involving real customer funds
  • Develop and maintain payroll integration, KYB/KYC, 401(k) loan, billing, invoicing, and IRA workflows
  • Work with product, compliance, and operations partners to define scope and deliver production-ready solutions
  • Investigate production issues and strengthen reliability, observability, and operational tooling
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate shared systems and platforms
  • Mentor engineers tackling complex technical challenges at scale
  • Deliver clear, dependable, well-tested code that performs efficiently and scales
  • Create products that customers value and enjoy using

Requirements

  • At least eight years of experience building and shipping production software products or platforms
  • Proven experience developing services, APIs, and data-intensive workflows
  • Background in financial systems, payments, or other high-correctness domains, or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Ability to take end-to-end ownership of systems, including production support and operational responsibilities
  • Experience partnering closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver defined work
  • Practical, delivery-oriented engineering mindset
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
  • Ability to mentor engineers and help maximize their performance and impact
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or a similar backend framework
  • Ability to use role-relevant AI tools actively and continue developing AI fluency
  • Availability to travel to Gusto’s office for required onboarding
