Staff Site Reliability Engineer - Auckland Hybrid

Lead the reliability of AWS infrastructure and platform services supporting Lightspeed’s global commerce platform. Improve resilience, scalability, observability, and developer experience across engineering teams.

Description

  • Define infrastructure reliability, developer experience, and platform capability strategies
  • Design and operate scalable, automated AWS infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code
  • Create tools and platform services that help product engineers ship and operate independently
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build resilient, secure, and cost-efficient systems
  • Advance engineering practices and delivery workflows across distributed, cross-functional teams
  • Promote observability, high availability, incident response, and disaster recovery
  • Use systems thinking to solve complex technical challenges
  • Lead incident response and implement durable improvements
  • Coach engineers and shape reliability standards
  • Join the on-call rotation

Requirements

  • Demonstrated AWS expertise operating highly available, scalable production environments
  • Background in a SaaS or product-led organization
  • Advanced Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and configuration management tools
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and Linux
  • Ability to develop in Python, Ruby, or Go and write sophisticated Shell scripts
  • Experience with observability, incident response, disaster recovery, and security practices
  • Experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, or DynamoDB
  • Experience managing and optimizing cloud costs
  • Understanding of Agile methods, continuous delivery, and software testing
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and professional judgment
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation
