Staff Product Manager, Data Supply Expansion | Plaid

Lead Plaid’s strategy for expanding non-bank data supply and bring new data offerings to market. Build partnerships and coordinate across the financial ecosystem to deliver measurable impact.

Description

  • Define Plaid’s long-term strategy for non-bank data supply
  • Create and execute the annual plan with clear evidence of progress and impact
  • Prioritize prospective data types and develop the business case for each
  • Evaluate and support build, buy, and partnership decisions with data partnerships, corporate development, and legal
  • Launch Plaid’s initial non-bank data offerings for internal use or external customers
  • Work with engineering and data teams to establish taxonomies, quality controls, and coverage measures
  • Set expansion metrics and communicate progress to leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Determine which data categories to pursue, including property tax, merchant and SKU-level purchases, utilities, tax, and payroll
  • Begin with a team of two to three engineers and deliver Plaid’s first non-bank data offering within the first year
  • Define the long-term supply-expansion strategy and standards for the quality and completeness of new data types
  • Develop internal investment cases that turn promising verticals into funded initiatives

Requirements

  • At least eight years of experience, including five or more years in product management or comparable founder or operator roles
  • Strong analytical discipline when working with data, cost models, and operational metrics
  • Advanced technical understanding of large-scale systems, load management, API platforms, and machine-learning models
  • A platform-oriented, systems-thinking approach
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, data, and product functions
  • Ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Ability to build alignment and make trade-offs explicit
