Software Engineer I - Tampa Hybrid

Build and support diagnostic healthcare applications, integrations, and data services at Avalon Healthcare Solutions. Develop cloud, SQL, and web-service solutions for healthcare operations.

Description

  • Design, develop, document, and support custom applications, portals, data exchanges, services, and integrations
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical design documents
  • Evaluate design alternatives and choose solutions aligned with business needs
  • Build and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical models, including context, data flow, process flow, data dictionary, and logical flow diagrams
  • Prepare unit test plans, including regression coverage
  • Contribute to functional test planning
  • Administer and support applications
  • Investigate and resolve application and integration issues
  • Record, track, and resolve product defects
  • Create complex, modular, reusable application code backed by SQL data sources
  • Build modular objects using enterprise software design patterns
  • Apply established database design practices
  • Write complex queries and update database tables
  • Follow Avalon’s Agile SDLC, change management procedures, and coding standards
  • Review code and evaluate work produced by team members
  • Provide 24x7x365 support for software used in company operations
  • Work with technical and business stakeholders and obtain required approvals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant business and technical experience
  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • Experience developing applications with several of the following: Jetty, Apache Camel, Drools or other rules engines, Red Hat Linux, SoapUI, Postman, Docker, AWS EC2, ECS/Fargate, AWS SQS, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, and AWS Lambda
  • Experience with SQL; T-SQL is preferred
  • Working knowledge of middleware and integration architecture, including SOA, web services, SOAP/WSDL/XML, REST, SAML, APIs, and microservices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and support high-quality solutions on schedule
  • Healthcare knowledge or experience is preferred
  • Strong experience with SOAP and RESTful web services
  • Experience integrating rules engines and BRMS with XML messages
  • Experience working in AWS or another cloud-based environment
  • Experience planning, developing, and deploying high-volume, mission-critical healthcare applications
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and security, privacy, and transaction standards
  • Able to work with limited supervision and apply professional judgment
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders
