SEO Manager (Remote, U.S.)

Lead technical SEO, content, AEO, and GEO programs for higher education and nonprofit marketing clients. Use search data and emerging AI technologies to drive measurable organic growth.

Description

  • Manage agency-wide project planning, processes, and delivery.
  • Lead client engagements from initial concept through on-time, on-budget completion across service lines.
  • Direct SEO strategy, implementation, and optimization for multiple partner accounts.
  • Create long-term strategies for sustainable organic growth.
  • Oversee technical SEO and content optimization initiatives.
  • Assess performance and uncover opportunities across SEO, Answer Engine Optimization, and Generative Engine Optimization.
  • Plan and deliver SEO, AEO, and GEO programs for higher education partner accounts.
  • Create SEO roadmaps connected to enrollment targets and broader business goals.
  • Research keywords, topics, competitors, entities, and search intent.
  • Direct technical SEO work covering audits, crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and internal links.
  • Work with Web Development teams to prioritize and deliver technical SEO enhancements.
  • Improve website content, landing pages, and content hubs for visibility, usability, and AI discoverability.
  • Find content gaps and opportunities to build topical authority throughout the student journey.
  • Track rankings, organic visits, conversions, and other SEO performance indicators.
  • Prepare monthly SEO reports and present strategic recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Keep pace with algorithm changes, AI search developments, and evolving SEO practices.
  • Assess new search technologies and AI tools for workflow and performance improvements.
  • Help maintain SEO documentation, operating standards, and ongoing process improvements.
  • Coordinate with Content, Web Development, Analytics, Paid Media, and Account Management teams.

Requirements

  • At least 3–5 years of hands-on SEO experience with demonstrated organic growth outcomes.
  • Ability to independently manage SEO strategy for multiple websites or client accounts.
  • Advanced technical SEO capabilities, including audits, indexing, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and on-page optimization.
  • Strong command of keyword research, search intent, content strategy, and performance analysis.
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Looker Studio, Sitebulb, or comparable tools.
  • Practical knowledge of AEO, GEO, semantic search, entity optimization, and AI-driven search experiences.
  • Strong editorial, proofreading, and content optimization abilities.
  • Experience working with WordPress, Webflow, Drupal, or a comparable CMS.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Capacity to balance competing priorities across several client accounts.
  • Higher education, enrollment marketing, or education technology experience is a plus.
  • Agency experience managing multiple client accounts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and enrollment-oriented reporting is a plus.
  • Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AirOps, or similar AI tools is a plus.
  • Interest in emerging AI search technologies and the future of organic search is a plus.
