Description

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture for assigned platforms and workstreams, covering application, data, integration, security, and deployment.
  • Convert business and regulatory requirements into clear architectural decisions, with explicit trade-offs.
  • Create and maintain architecture vision documents, high-level designs, integration designs, and decision records.
  • Establish service boundaries, API contracts, data ownership, and event models across distributed systems.
  • Design integrations with external and third-party systems, including adapter and anti-corruption patterns.
  • Set non-functional expectations for scalability, availability, performance, resilience, and observability, then verify that designs meet them.
  • Incorporate security and compliance requirements into architecture in collaboration with security and risk stakeholders.
  • Lead design reviews, support engineering leads, and govern implementation against approved architecture.
  • Assess technologies and vendors, making recommendations grounded in evidence.
  • Track architectural risks, assumptions, dependencies, and unresolved decisions through to closure.
  • Contribute to estimation, technical scoping, and delivery planning with product and delivery leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years of software engineering experience, including three or more years in architecture roles for large, multi-service systems.
  • Hands-on software development experience with sufficient current depth to review code and evaluate designs credibly.
  • Strong expertise in distributed systems, including microservices, service boundaries, API design and versioning, and event-driven architecture.
  • Deep experience with a major backend ecosystem such as Java and Spring Boot, or an equivalent enterprise platform.
  • Strong data architecture expertise, including relational modeling, persistence strategies, transactional integrity, and cross-service consistency trade-offs.
  • Solid understanding of security architecture, including identity and access management, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, authorization, encryption, and secrets management.
  • Experience designing cloud-native or containerized deployments with Kubernetes or OpenShift, along with CI/CD delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear architecture documentation and diagrams that engineering teams can implement.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to defend technical decisions and explain them plainly to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
