Senior Software Engineer, Chennai (Hybrid) — Walmart

Build scalable machine learning, Java, and distributed services for Walmart in Chennai. Help secure software and improve customer account and order experiences.

Description

  • Apply or develop machine learning solutions that produce efficient, scalable models for Walmart-scale systems
  • Create intuitive software aligned with customer and business needs
  • Partner with colleagues to define software practices and requirements
  • Maintain production-quality code and deliver updates that address customer and business needs
  • Analyze and test programs and products before release
  • Diagnose and resolve coding issues efficiently
  • Build software that monitors private-information sharing and strengthens security
  • Identify opportunities to improve software performance and effectiveness
  • Follow company policies, procedures, mission, values, ethical standards, and integrity expectations

Requirements

  • B.E., B.Tech, M.S., or MCA in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent qualifying experience
  • At least 5.5 years of object-oriented programming experience with Java
  • Strong foundations in computer systems, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving
  • Hands-on experience developing web-based J2EE services or applications
  • Experience with Kafka, Apache Camel, RESTful web services, Spring, Hibernate, Splunk, and caching
  • Experience designing systems and working with distributed systems
  • Exposure to SQL and NoSQL data stores, including Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed services with scalability and fault-tolerance considerations
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure such as OpenStack, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS
  • Exposure to build, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines and tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Jenkins
  • Demonstrated interest in exploring, improving, enhancing, automating, and optimizing systems and tools
  • Option 1: A bachelor's degree in a specified technical field plus three years of software engineering or related experience
  • Option 2: Five years of experience in software engineering or a related area
