Senior Ruby on Rails Developer in Poland (Remote)

Build and optimize scalable Ruby services for SOFTSWISS’s data-intensive systems. Focus on production performance, database efficiency, and fault-tolerant solutions.

Description

  • Create and enhance scalable Ruby services for high-load, data-intensive systems
  • Manage solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from implementation to production
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues
  • Improve application and database performance
  • Help shape technical decisions and engineering standards
  • Collaborate in a fully agile environment with senior engineers and product managers
  • Design fault-tolerant, highly available, and efficient systems
  • Monitor live services and improve their production performance
  • Evaluate and develop new technologies and engineering tools
  • Partner with product, infrastructure, and business teams

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby
  • Practical experience developing and performance-tuning data-intensive applications
  • Experience building complex solutions from the ground up
  • Strong SQL skills and a solid grasp of relational databases
  • Ability and curiosity to investigate difficult data problems, analyze large datasets, and determine root causes
  • Advanced knowledge of data structures, object-oriented programming, and algorithms
  • Effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with ClickHouse
  • Experience using AI-powered development tools in everyday engineering workflows
  • Experience working with Kafka
  • Ability to design space- and time-efficient algorithms and select the appropriate approach
  • Willingness to learn additional languages such as Golang and Scala
  • Familiarity with SRE practices
  • Familiarity with cloud-native tools and platforms such as Kubernetes, Helm, and Prometheus
