Senior Power BI Developer – Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Build Power BI visualizations, reports, and dashboards for federal government customers. Translate complex data into practical reporting solutions that support informed decisions.

Description

  • Create accurate, polished visualizations, reports, and dashboards for a federal government customer
  • Gather stakeholder requirements in an agile, iterative delivery environment
  • Apply business intelligence and data analytics expertise to develop rich data visualizations
  • Build Power BI reports and dashboards according to established industry standards and practices
  • Convert business requirements and rules into analytical solutions, scorecards, and management dashboards
  • Combine data from multiple sources into a unified visualization platform
  • Support and maintain existing Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Interpret reporting database schemas and models while conducting data analysis
  • Import and transform data from diverse sources for use in Power BI
  • Support Power BI solution design by resolving issues, improving performance, and diagnosing bottlenecks
  • Produce written reports and visual analyses
  • Deliver user training, technical demonstrations, and presentations to stakeholders

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience producing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations
  • At least 5 years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI experience
  • Experience ingesting information, transforming data, and relating data from multiple feeds
  • Experience presenting dashboards and quantitative findings to stakeholders and leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of relational database architecture and large-scale datasets
  • Experience querying and extracting data from Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, and third-party connectors
  • Experience developing SQL queries for relational databases
  • Experience with SSRS and Power BI Report Builder
  • Experience modeling, cleansing, and transforming data with Power BI, SQL, Power Query, R, Python, or comparable tools
  • Experience using TOAD or Visual Studio Code to query and extract Oracle data
  • Expertise maintaining and troubleshooting Power BI reporting environments, including query tuning and performance optimization
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, relationship-building, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and flexibility when priorities or assignments change
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Position of Trust background investigation and satisfy eligibility requirements for sensitive-information access
  • Preferred: technical certification in Microsoft Power BI, database design, or data analysis
  • Preferred: Tableau knowledge or broader Microsoft Power Platform experience, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dataverse
