Senior Remote Hardware Engineer, Medical Product Design — Rythm

Design medical-grade products for Rythm, an at-home blood-testing company. Develop injection-molded components from concept through prototyping, validation, and production.

Description

  • Turn design briefs, early concepts, and product requirements into detailed 3D models ready for production.
  • Convert design intent into precise, manufacturable engineering.
  • Design injection-molded parts with attention to materials, tolerances, draft, wall thickness, and assembly.
  • Design injection molds and resolve production details.
  • Use mold flow analysis to assess filling, cooling, and part performance, then refine designs accordingly.
  • Create mockups and prototypes for early design reviews and testing.
  • Refine designs in response to prototype feedback until product objectives are met.
  • Lead projects from initial concept through revisions, validation, and production-ready designs.
  • Work with design and manufacturing teams to address practical production needs.
  • Ensure products are safe, dependable, and durable.
  • Assess product performance in production and in use, applying findings to future designs.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience designing medical-grade products or medical devices is essential.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in product engineering or physical product design.
  • Advanced skills in SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
  • Practical experience designing injection-molded parts and molds.
  • Experience conducting mold flow analysis and applying findings to improve designs.
  • A portfolio or examples of products you designed and brought to production, with your contribution clearly explained.
  • Experience creating mockups and prototypes and guiding products through multiple rounds of iteration.
  • Ability to listen carefully to design requirements and execute them precisely.
  • Sound judgment in balancing design intent with manufacturing constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Openness to feedback and revisions while remaining aligned with an established product vision.
  • Curiosity and willingness to develop a deep understanding of the company, its products, and its customers.
  • Strong follow-through and ability to manage multiple projects, prototypes, and deadlines.
  • Background in mechanical engineering, industrial design, medical device development, or consumer product engineering.
