Senior Project Controller – Rail and Metro

Senior Project Controller supporting Power BI-driven performance reporting and commercial delivery across SMEC’s major rail infrastructure projects. Oversees project controls, scheduling, reporting and stakeholder insights in Sydney or Brisbane.

Description

  • Maintain project control, scheduling and resource planning processes in line with client requirements and SMEC technical standards
  • Build and manage advanced Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Coordinate timely, high-quality deliverables with project teams, contributors and stakeholders
  • Document the rationale behind project performance metrics
  • Oversee project deliverables and help achieve successful outcomes
  • Support the commercial performance of projects and the wider Rail team
  • Advance continuous improvement through reporting automation, data visualisation and more efficient processes
  • Translate complex project data into actionable insights and inform decisions across major rail infrastructure projects

Requirements

  • At least eight years of experience in project controls
  • Advanced Power BI capability, including dashboard creation
  • Demonstrated experience building and implementing Power BI reporting solutions in project or infrastructure settings
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder engagement and client management capabilities
  • Ability to present project performance to internal and external stakeholders and train users on developed Power BI solutions
  • Advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets, Power Query, pivot tables and complex formulas
  • Highly organised with strong administrative skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with Primavera P6 is advantageous
