Senior .NET and Azure Application Architect at Avanade

Lead application architecture for Avanade client engagements, modernizing .NET systems and designing cloud-native solutions on Azure. Guide engineering teams, DevOps practices, and client architecture decisions.

Description

  • Set application architecture for client projects, covering target states, service boundaries, integrations, quality requirements, and architecture records.
  • Design microservices with domain-driven decomposition, versioned APIs, messaging, resilience, idempotency, and distributed data patterns.
  • Lead monolith modernization by assessing systems, finding service boundaries, sequencing decomposition, separating data, and planning cutovers.
  • Design cost-aware Azure applications using containers, AKS, App Service, Functions, API Management, messaging, caching, storage, and observability.
  • Lead migrations from .NET Framework to .NET Core or modern .NET.
  • Build prototypes, reference implementations, and complex C#/.NET code, and review team contributions.
  • Direct engineers and technical leads through delivery, including work allocation, technical guidance, reviews, and quality accountability.
  • Set and uphold standards for branching, code reviews, testing, static analysis, secure coding, and performance benchmarks.
  • Own CI/CD and DevOps practices with Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, release automation, approval gates, infrastructure as code, and continuous delivery.
  • Set standards for and apply AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to design, refactoring, testing, and legacy code analysis.
  • Design application security covering identity and access, secrets, data protection, and secure integrations.
  • Plan for operations with monitoring, logs, traces, alerts, service objectives, disaster recovery, and production handover.
  • Chair design reviews, resolve architecture escalations, and explain decisions to client architects and review boards.
  • Estimate technical work, assess risks and dependencies, and manage trade-offs with project managers.
  • Coach technical leads and engineers, and build skills in .NET, cloud-native engineering, and AI-assisted development.
  • Support presales as an application subject matter expert through architecture, modernization plans, estimates, proposals, and client workshops.
  • Add reference architectures, reusable frameworks, pipeline templates, and accelerators to the practice library.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years in application development and architecture, including substantial recent work with Microsoft .NET.
  • Advanced practical skills in C#, .NET Framework and modern .NET, ASP.NET Core, Web API, asynchronous programming, and design patterns.
  • Experience architecting microservices, including service boundaries, API contracts, messaging, event-driven systems, distributed data, and resilience.
  • Track record of breaking monoliths into microservices, including delivery sequencing, data separation, and cutover.
  • Strong Azure cloud-native expertise, including containers, AKS, App Service, Functions, API Management, Service Bus or Event Grid, and twelve-factor and well-architected principles.
  • Experience moving .NET Framework applications to .NET Core or modern .NET.
  • Delivery experience with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, plus sound judgement on review, quality, and safe use with client code.
  • Strong Azure DevOps skills with multistage YAML pipelines, build and release automation, environments, approval gates, and continuous delivery; GitHub Actions experience may complement this.
  • Experience leading engineering teams through technical direction, code and design reviews, mentoring, and quality accountability.
  • Strong data design skills with SQL Server or Azure SQL and Entity Framework Core, query and performance tuning, and familiarity with NoSQL options such as Cosmos DB.
  • Solid application security knowledge, including Entra ID, OAuth/OIDC, secrets management, and secure coding.
  • Experience designing for and troubleshooting performance, scalability, reliability, and observability in production.
  • Clear client-facing communication and the ability to present and defend architecture to senior stakeholders and review boards.
  • Based in Bengaluru or Delhi NCR, or willing to relocate.
