Description

  • Shape how the engineering community understands Airbnb
  • Own the Airbnb Tech Blog from topic development and engineer-author coaching through editing and legal, security, and communications reviews
  • Create and sustain a reliable publishing cadence
  • Find technical narratives spanning teams and develop them into connected content series
  • Support engineers and technical leaders in building public profiles through bylines, talks, speaker coaching, and emerging-voice development
  • Work with the CTO to build and manage his public technical profile
  • Create Airbnb’s primary technical content destination on an Airbnb-owned domain
  • Build needed distribution channels, including video, and clarify the role of social media
  • Define conference and event strategy, run hosted events, and manage academic partnerships and technical media relationships
  • Oversee associated budgets and vendor relationships
  • Manage Airbnb’s open source presence while keeping public claims and projects accurate and maintained
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to link technical brand initiatives to hiring results and evaluate attribution

Requirements

  • Significant experience in technical content, developer relations, engineering communications, or technical editorial work, including direct collaboration with engineers
  • Technical fluency to engage in systems design discussions, review design documents, and evaluate technical content
  • Strong editorial judgment and practical editing ability
  • Ability to influence without formal authority by creating effective systems and incentives
  • End-to-end experience managing events, budgets, and vendors
  • Ability to connect brand initiatives with funnel results while understanding attribution limitations
  • Experience working through legal and security reviews and evaluating publication risk
  • Experience migrating a technical publication between platforms, including SEO and redirect implementation, is a plus
  • Experience launching or improving an open source program is a plus
  • Experience helping a senior executive develop a public technical profile is a plus
  • Familiarity with AI and ML engineering subjects and academic or research communications is a plus
  • Experience with video or multi-format content is a plus
  • Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
