Senior Manager, Critical Mineral Investments

Lead investment origination, structuring, and execution for mining, infrastructure, and financing transactions supporting EDC’s $2 billion Canadian accelerator fund. Mobilize private capital across Canada’s critical minerals value chain.

Description

  • Originate, structure, and execute high-priority investments across Canada’s critical minerals value chain
  • Direct complex mining, metals, critical minerals, and infrastructure transactions through financial close
  • Source opportunities aligned with CCMA strategic priorities and build transaction pipelines
  • Develop equity, debt, hybrid, structured-finance, offtake, and price-stabilization solutions
  • Evaluate project economics, funding needs, capital structures, returns, risk allocation, and transaction considerations
  • Lead financial analysis, valuation, scenario testing, and project cash flow modelling
  • Prepare and deliver investment and credit recommendations to senior leaders and approval committees
  • Develop relationships with project sponsors, investors, financial institutions, government representatives, and industry stakeholders
  • Manage multidisciplinary deal teams while coordinating internal experts and external advisors
  • Negotiate financing, investment, shareholder, intercreditor, offtake, and related transaction agreements
  • Drive syndication efforts to secure strategic risk-sharing participation
  • Manage assigned investments and financing exposures following financial close
  • Track project performance, compliance, risks, and investment or credit reviews
  • Direct amendments, waivers, restructurings, follow-on investments, and other portfolio actions
  • Counsel senior leaders on transaction strategy, market conventions, sector developments, financing options, and opportunities
  • Track commodity markets, financing conditions, policy changes, and critical minerals developments
  • Help advance CCMA’s investment strategy and EDC’s capabilities
  • Coach colleagues in transaction analysis, structuring, and execution

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in project finance, infrastructure investing, private equity, investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate finance, or a comparable transaction-focused setting
  • At least 5 years of experience leading complex transaction execution
  • Demonstrated success managing transactions from origination, structuring, due diligence, negotiation, approval, documentation, and closing through portfolio management
  • Experience sourcing opportunities, developing senior-level relationships, and building transaction pipelines
  • Experience structuring and executing equity, debt, hybrid, and structured-finance transactions
  • Relevant background in mining and metals, critical minerals, natural resources, infrastructure, or another capital-intensive sector
  • Strong knowledge of transaction structuring, valuation, financial modelling, project cash flow analysis, investment returns, and risk allocation
  • Ability to evaluate project economics, financing needs, capital structures, commercial risks, and investment considerations
  • Strong negotiation capability with complex financing, investment, shareholder, intercreditor, offtake, and related commercial agreements
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary deal teams and coordinating internal experts, external advisors, counterparties, and stakeholders
  • Post-secondary degree in finance, business, engineering, law, economics, or a related field
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada when applying
  • Ability to satisfy required government security screening
