Senior Mainframe Db2 DBA Infrastructure Specialist – Edinburgh Hybrid

Senior z/OS Db2 DBA role supporting Lloyds Banking Group’s mainframe banking infrastructure. Lead Db2 performance optimisation, governance, roadmap delivery, and resolution of complex incidents.

Description

  • Provide advanced technical support for mainframe Db2 and its related processes, tools, and utilities
  • Operate and maintain services in line with Group standards, policies, and agreed service levels
  • Support investment-funded mainframe initiatives, including out-of-hours coverage
  • Deliver technical support, incident management, and problem resolution across complex systems and processes
  • Support complex mainframe environments within demanding timescales
  • Contribute to strategy and design for the mainframe development and test estate
  • Own the zDBA technology roadmap and work with stakeholders to deliver its priorities
  • Drive standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with Lab and Platform teams to develop, promote, and implement process improvements
  • Maintain strict compliance with established processes, governance, and procedures

Requirements

  • Deep, extensive expertise in Db2 on z/OS
  • Expert experience monitoring and optimising Db2 performance, including SQL and buffer pool tuning
  • Ability to recommend targeted changes that improve service stability and availability
  • Expertise in governing and approving DDL changes, managing schema evolution, assessing impact, and following change-control procedures
  • Extensive experience leading troubleshooting and resolution for critical online systems
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to Senior Leadership
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues in Db2 fundamentals, performance tuning, utilities, and operational processes
  • More than 10 years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA within a financial organisation
