Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, IoT Integrations

Integrate OEM hardware, firmware, and customer systems with Aerovy’s cloud platform. Lead implementations from discovery through launch and build reusable tools and infrastructure for intelligent hardware.

Description

  • Lead customer implementations from discovery through integration, validation, and launch.
  • Turn customer-specific solutions into reusable platform components, tools, and documented integration patterns.
  • Integrate OEM hardware, firmware, and backend systems into Aerovy’s cloud platform.
  • Build data integration and ingestion pipelines for customer systems.
  • Lead technical discovery with customer engineering teams, recommend integration approaches, and resolve customer-side dependencies.
  • Coordinate implementation plans with the Customer Success Manager and lead the engineering workstreams.
  • Monitor, debug, and validate edge-to-cloud systems after integration.
  • Translate customer needs into clear engineering requirements for the platform team.
  • Build repeatable processes and infrastructure for forward deployed engineering work.
  • Hire and lead junior forward deployed engineers as the team grows.
  • Travel up to 50% to meet and work with customers.

Requirements

  • At least five years contributing to software engineering teams, including customer-facing delivery, implementation, or solutions engineering.
  • A BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a scientific or engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, plus C# or Java.
  • Strong grounding in networking and IoT fundamentals, including TCP/IP, MQTT, and REST APIs.
  • Experience working with technical and non-technical customer stakeholders and turning their requirements and constraints into engineering work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including technical documentation for external audiences.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites.
  • Experience with embedded systems, IoT devices, telematics, or industrial hardware.
  • Experience translating device data over protocols such as CAN, Modbus, MQTT, or custom serial into formats ready for a platform.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers to clarify requirements and implement solutions.
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, and tooling, preferably AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation or CDK.
  • Strong experience with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Strong experience with real-time or near-real-time analytics and time-series databases.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
