Senior Executive, HIM Services – Medical Coding

Review patient records, assign medical codes, and audit charts for CorroHealth’s healthcare reimbursement services. Maintain coding accuracy, compliance, and reliable billing information.

Description

  • Identify relevant details in patient medical records
  • Review documentation for omissions or missing information
  • Apply CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9/ICD-10-CM, APC, Denials, and Edits codes
  • Check documents for grammatical and typographical errors
  • Conduct medical chart audits
  • Report equipment or computer application problems to the supervisor
  • Follow medical coding policies, standards, and compliance guidelines
  • Confirm that assigned codes correspond with physicians’ diagnoses
  • Monitor updates to coding regulations and code changes
  • Gather and share information about coding and billing issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or an equivalent qualification with Anatomy and Physiology as primary subjects
  • Two to four years of medical coding experience focused on Denials and Edits
  • At least one coding certification: CPC, COC, CRC, or CPCP from AAPC, or CCS, CCSP, or CCA from AHIMA
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and exceptional organizational skills
  • Capacity to protect confidential information
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal for six to eight hours per day
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 20 pounds
