Senior Engineering Lead, Electrical Components - New Flyer (Hybrid, Winnipeg)

Lead electrical component design integration, risk management, and supplier coordination at NFI/MCI. Support production, quality, service, and customer engineering objectives.

Description

  • Align stakeholders with organizational strategy while reinforcing proactive risk management and accountability
  • Assess customer specifications, uncover product or process gaps, and document risks, approved alternatives, and deviation needs
  • Represent Production Engineering in vendor discussions and assess supplier quotations during bidding
  • Provide engineering teams with technical direction and oversight grounded in customer requirements
  • Flag project risks and launch validation activities to confirm compliance with applicable standards and regulations
  • Lead New Design Integration projects through SMART goals, virtual bus reviews, KPI tracking, designer assignments, and complete status reporting
  • Review and authorize Engineering Change Notification packages
  • Oversee engineering ANDON entries and coordinate responses
  • Compile and submit supplier approval packages, customer approval drawings, test reports, and required signoffs
  • Coordinate the release and tracking of approval drawings with customers
  • Work with vendors and customers on design issues, Sales Release Change Requests, and alternate sourcing plans
  • Connect Engineering with Customer Program Management, Vehicle Application Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Production, Quality, and Service Engineering
  • Approve Option Value forms that define Family and Feature information
  • Contribute to training, mentoring, team development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Advance product standardization and design integration across Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
  • Find design enhancement opportunities and present proposed initiatives to the Change Control Board

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist designation
  • At least 5 years of relevant engineering or project leadership experience, or 3 years of internal technical experience with NFI/MCI
  • Advanced technical expertise and project management capability
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and systems such as NX, Teamcenter, Oracle, ePlanner, Excel, and A3 reporting
  • Self-directed and able to work independently
  • Willingness to travel to the United States as required, less than 15% of the time
