Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant – Utility-Scale Power and Storage

Support owner’s engineer and EPC consulting engagements for utility-scale power generation, renewable energy, and storage projects at Sargent & Lundy. Review designs, specifications, proposals, and electrical deliverables across project development and execution.

Description

  • Support owner’s engineer engagements for utility-scale power generation projects
  • Prepare and review EPC RFP packages and related technical specifications
  • Assess EPC proposals to support selection of preferred contractors
  • Provide technical input during EPC contract negotiations
  • Develop or review specifications for main transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment
  • Review EPC contractors’ electrical design drawings and supporting calculations, providing technical comments
  • Develop simple-cycle and combined-cycle electrical system design packages
  • Work on renewable low-voltage DC and AC system designs
  • Work on AC collection systems for solar and battery projects
  • Work on collector substations and expansions of interconnecting substations
  • Work on gen-tie transmission projects
  • Meet directly with power plant developers, owners, lenders, and investors during consulting engagements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • At least 8 years of electrical engineering design experience on utility-scale power or storage projects
  • Experience supporting power projects as part of an EPC team or in an owner’s engineer role is preferred
  • Experience designing auxiliary power systems; thermal generation experience, preferably gas-fired combined-cycle, is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with and guide others
  • U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available
