Senior DevOps Engineer – OpenShift, On-Premises, Ukraine Remote

Manage on-premises OpenShift infrastructure for BICS, a global telecommunications enabler. Lead platform automation, CI/CD, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery initiatives.

Description

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and solutions that meet engineering standards and operational needs
  • Design, deploy, and administer Red Hat OpenShift clusters across physical and virtualized on-premises environments
  • Lead systems engineering initiatives focused on OpenShift infrastructure
  • Work with development teams to containerize applications and improve deployment and release processes
  • Develop and operate CI/CD pipelines with OpenShift and related DevOps tooling
  • Automate infrastructure operations and deployments with Ansible and scripting
  • Manage patches and upgrades for OpenShift, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, and related components through change-control processes
  • Establish and maintain backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Join the on-call rotation supporting critical platform and infrastructure services
  • Analyze trends and root causes while monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents
  • Apply security controls covering RBAC, vulnerability management, and compliance
  • Strengthen alerting, monitoring, and observability across OpenShift and associated platforms
  • Handle Linux administration, infrastructure upkeep, and data center service support as needed
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and technical runbooks
  • Share expertise through knowledge transfer, mentoring, and training on OpenShift, GitLab, and related technologies

Requirements

  • At least four years of relevant professional experience or equivalent certifications, including Red Hat OpenShift
  • Four or more years of experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering
  • Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and maintaining OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms in enterprise or on-premises environments
  • Strong background building and managing CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitLab CI or Jenkins
  • Proven Linux administration experience, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Practical experience automating infrastructure with Ansible or comparable tools
  • Bash or Python scripting proficiency
  • Experience applying GitOps practices with tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Ability to document architectures, configurations, standards, procedures, and technical operations
  • Upper-intermediate written and spoken English
  • A bachelor's degree in IT, engineering, or computer science is advantageous
  • Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code experience is a plus
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware is advantageous
  • Knowledge of ITIL Service Operations principles
  • Experience with ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana, or disaster recovery tooling is optional but valuable
  • Able to work independently, manage ambiguity, and require minimal guidance
  • Able to interpret business drivers and stakeholder expectations and convert them into technical solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to create architectural documentation and visual designs using tools such as Visio
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural, international environment
