Senior Data Policy Engineer - Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Senior Data Policy Engineer at Vizient, Inc. responsible for implementing Immuta and Unity Catalog access controls. The role covers policy testing, entitlement troubleshooting, technical-control documentation, and collaboration on governed data-access architecture.

Description

  • Implement and maintain Immuta policies and related access-control configurations
  • Support Unity Catalog access-control configuration based on approved policy designs
  • Convert approved policy requirements into technical rule logic, configuration specifications, and implementation tasks
  • Create and execute tests covering policy behavior, filtering, masking, entitlements, and access-control outcomes
  • Lead technical testing and validation of Immuta policies before production release
  • Investigate policy behavior, entitlement issues, access-control failures, and implementation defects
  • Record policy configurations, dependencies, test results, deployment evidence, and operational requirements
  • Support monitoring and reporting that measures policy effectiveness and access-control performance
  • Coordinate administrative and deployment activities with Cloud Operations when it operates SaaS platforms
  • Establish reusable policy-engineering patterns and recommend architecture within established governance
  • Contribute to solution and integration architecture for Immuta, Unity Catalog, IAM, and related access-control platforms
  • Work with the Data Policy Governance Director and Data Policy Analyst to clarify approved policy intent and implementation criteria

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • At least seven years of experience implementing access-control, authorization, entitlement, policy, security, or data-governance controls
  • Experience converting policy or business requirements into technical rule logic and configuration
  • Experience with role-based or attribute-based access control, filtering, masking, entitlements, or policy enforcement
  • Strong troubleshooting and testing abilities, including isolating policy, identity, entitlement, configuration, and platform issues
  • Ability to document technical configurations, test evidence, dependencies, and operational procedures
  • Experience working with cloud and platform operations, data engineering, security, IAM, privacy, and business stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and disciplined change-management practices
  • Immuta or comparable data-access policy platform experience preferred
  • Databricks Unity Catalog or comparable data-platform security experience preferred
  • Experience using SQL, APIs, configuration-as-code, scripting, or automation to test and maintain policy controls preferred
  • Experience with solution architecture, systems integration, technical design, security architecture, and communicating design tradeoffs preferred
  • Experience with data masking, row-level filtering, purpose-based access, entitlement models, or access reviews preferred
  • Experience supporting production change processes and technical control evidence preferred
  • Relevant security, cloud, data engineering, IAM, privacy, or governance certifications preferred
