Senior Data Platform Administrator - Hybrid Canada

Lead the design, operation, governance, and modernization of EDC’s enterprise data and analytics platforms. Support business intelligence, advanced analytics, data engineering, and AI/ML workloads in a hybrid Canadian role.

Description

  • Design and operate cloud-based data and analytics platforms for BI, advanced analytics, data engineering, and AI/ML workloads
  • Manage platform onboarding, upgrades, scaling, retirement, and ongoing improvement
  • Establish and uphold platform usage, governance, and operational standards
  • Maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management capabilities
  • Resolve complex platform incidents, service interruptions, and performance problems
  • Use operational and tactical data to identify service issues and develop technical solutions
  • Maintain compliance with security, privacy, and data governance requirements
  • Review and contribute to database and platform specifications
  • Work with data governance and risk teams on regulatory, audit, and compliance needs
  • Maintain platform and technology roadmaps aligned with EDC’s data strategy
  • Assess emerging technologies through proof-of-technology initiatives
  • Modernize and rationalize legacy data platforms
  • Define and monitor metrics for platform performance, cost, reliability, and adoption
  • Develop data and analytics reference architectures, standards, design patterns, and principles
  • Create end-to-end data solution architectures covering data flows, integrations, and platform services
  • Analyze data to identify architectural, operational, and performance trends
  • Partner with cloud, security, integration, and solution architects on enterprise designs
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to data engineers, architects, and platform administrators
  • Work with product owners and delivery teams to manage platform backlogs through Agile practices
  • Maintain architecture documentation, operational runbooks, standards, and lessons learned
  • Provide technical leadership and clear communication to business and technology stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • At least seven years of experience in senior or influential data architecture or platform administration roles
  • At least five years of experience designing and operating enterprise data and analytics platforms for BI, analytics, and data management
  • At least three years of experience with ServiceNow ITSM or comparable service management tools
  • Practical knowledge of Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request ITSM processes
  • Experience with cloud and on-premises data platforms and services such as Purview and Profisee MDM
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps or DataOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and platform automation
  • Experience delivering work through Agile methods, including Scrum and Kanban
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada when applying, with preference for Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Ability to satisfy the required government security screening
