Senior Data Center Design Manager - Remote, United States

Description

  • Direct design coordination and integration for mission-critical data center projects
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, and specialty system designers across disciplines
  • Lead design coordination meetings and technical workshops
  • Verify design deliverables for completeness, accuracy, standards compliance, and data center requirements
  • Manage design partner schedules, milestones, scope changes, and documentation from concept through commissioning support
  • Coordinate critical power, cooling, telecommunications, redundancy, maintainability, security, fire protection, and high-density computing needs
  • Direct BIM execution plans, federated models, coordination sessions, clash detection, model quality control, version control, and digital collaboration workflows
  • Develop coordinated 3D models, clash detection reports, sequencing drawings, and maintenance access studies
  • Oversee the full design RFI process and evaluate RFI trends
  • Work with construction teams to clarify design intent and resolve field issues
  • Lead design reviews, constructability evaluations, value engineering, and shop drawing and submittal reviews
  • Prepare design status reports, coordination records, and technical presentations
  • Develop working relationships with clients, operators, commissioning agents, internal teams, and external design partners
  • Mentor junior design coordinators and contribute to team professional development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering, construction management, or a related technical field
  • Seven to ten years of progressive experience in design coordination and BIM management, including at least five years on mission-critical or data center projects
  • Experience leading design coordination for large, complex construction projects with budgets above $50 million
  • Strong knowledge of data center design principles, critical infrastructure systems, and mission-critical operational requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with BIM platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, Procore, or comparable tools, along with 3D coordination software
  • Experience directing BIM coordination workflows, advanced clash detection, and model-based construction planning
  • Understanding of data center construction documentation, specialized installation methods, and commissioning sequences
  • Experience managing complex design RFI workflows and technical documentation for critical facilities
  • Ability to lead the resolution of complex technical coordination issues
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational, problem-solving, detail-oriented, and systems-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Expertise reading and interpreting architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage drawings
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
