Senior Data-at-Rest Encryption Engineer, Indianapolis Hybrid

Senior engineer responsible for enterprise encryption, tokenization, key management, and data protection across hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments at Elevance Health. The role combines security architecture, automation, integration troubleshooting, incident response, and operational support in a hybrid work setting.

Description

  • Secure enterprise data-protection platforms across hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments
  • Manage encryption, tokenization, key management, and platform stability
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot security integrations
  • Automate operational workflows and maintain security controls
  • Protect sensitive data reliably across complex production environments
  • Lead architecture support for information-security and network-security technologies
  • Develop and execute risk-assessment methodologies
  • Define requirements, system architectures, and software designs for security products and services
  • Create strategies to identify, assess, and respond to network attacks
  • Develop security-incident response plans and strategies
  • Resolve complex issues and act as a technical escalation point
  • Prepare presentations and secure IT management approval for major security-system replacements or reconfigurations
  • Set vendor strategy and provide directional guidance
  • Advise business partners and project-team developers on technical security matters
  • Design and engineer access-management and network-security solutions aligned with business requirements and technology standards
  • Partner with architecture teams to refine technology direction and strategy
  • Produce reports that support management strategy and decision-making
  • Lead technical merger and acquisition activities when assigned
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for peers, managers, and senior management
  • Work in the office one to two days per week while supporting virtual collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field
  • At least eight years of experience spanning systems administration, information-system security, access management, network security, communications, networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, data, and personnel
  • Experience working across multiple technical and business disciplines
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Advanced Protegrity experience covering architecture, deployment patterns, policy design and administration, integration troubleshooting, and performance and stability
  • Terraform experience, including debugging plans and applies, using modules, promoting environments, and troubleshooting state
  • Experience with GitHub or comparable source-control processes, including pull-request reviews and release and change workflows
  • Practical experience with AWS and either Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Hands-on experience with serverless platforms such as Lambda, Azure Functions, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Run
  • Working knowledge of EKS, AKS, and/or Cloud Run, including connectivity, identity, secrets, and logging
  • Ability to write effective Splunk queries and use log data for investigations and troubleshooting
  • Experience using ServiceNow
  • Experience protecting data in object storage, databases, and file-transfer systems
  • Experience with Snowflake integrations or deployments
  • Experience integrating pipelines or applications with HashiCorp Vault
  • Ability to provide advanced support in at least five information-security domains, such as access control, application security, cryptography, risk management, compliance, operations security, security architecture, and network security
