Senior Control Systems Engineer - Mossville, IL Onsite

Lead requirements, integration, and validation for camera-, radar-, and sensor-based collision mitigation systems used in Caterpillar construction equipment. The role includes HIL, machine-level, and embedded technology testing.

Description

  • Own system requirements for collision mitigation capabilities and keep them aligned throughout development.
  • Work with software engineers to break system requirements into practical, implementable features.
  • Contribute to engineering activities across the full product lifecycle.
  • Create system test strategies and carry out validation activities.
  • Perform system integration, machine-level testing, and Hardware-in-the-Loop validation.
  • Coordinate with product teams and partner engineering functions to assess requirements and resolve technical problems.
  • Review test findings, identify defects or coverage gaps, and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Help integrate and validate camera, radar, and sensor technologies for collision mitigation systems.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with requirements analysis tools, practices, and methods.
  • Knowledge of product testing methods, tools, and processes.
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting methods, tools, and practices.
  • Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and how they are applied.
  • Experience creating and maintaining system requirements, specifications, and traceability for complex embedded or autonomous systems.
  • Practical experience with system integration, verification, and validation, including HIL and machine-level testing.
  • Understanding of vehicle, machine, or control-system architectures.
  • Experience converting customer and product needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering organizations.
  • Exposure to ROS or ROS2, Python scripting, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Ability to work full-time from the Irving, Texas, or Mossville, Illinois, office.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening.
