Description

Build and maintain customer-facing cloud and instrument software
Create internal tools for Nuclera’s in-house protein screening services
Contribute across the complete software development lifecycle
Partner with biologists and other stakeholders to clarify use cases and requirements
Turn business and technical needs into clear software designs
Develop and integrate the resulting solutions in code
Create automated tests to validate software correctness
Gather requirements and manage features from discovery through delivery
Collaborate directly with key stakeholders to achieve the intended outcome
Own the codebase and maintain it according to current engineering best practices

Requirements

At least five years of professional software engineering experience
Ability to work confidently across backend, frontend, DevOps, and quality assurance
Product-oriented approach with experience gathering requirements, owning features through delivery, and partnering directly with stakeholders
Willingness to own code and keep it aligned with current engineering best practices
Professional experience with Java and Python
Experience building REST and WebSocket APIs
Familiarity with a backend web framework such as Micronaut or Spring
Experience with Google Cloud or a comparable provider such as AWS or Azure
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and TypeScript or JavaScript
Experience with React or a comparable frontend technology such as Angular
Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker or Podman
Experience with automated testing using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or pytest
Experience creating automated build and deployment pipelines
Proficiency with Git-based version control
Java Reactive Streams experience is desirable
Asynchronous Python experience is desirable
PostgreSQL experience is desirable
Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Flux, or Terraform is desirable
Figma or Balsamiq experience is desirable
GitLab CI experience is desirable
Experience with Claude Code or a comparable AI coding assistant is desirable
Experience with bioinformatics data processing pipelines is desirable
