Build embedded Linux software for AND Digital’s regulated medical technology product. Lead functionality spanning alarms, patient data, supervision, recovery, and device services.

Description

  • Create technical alarm conditions from hardware and operating-system telemetry
  • Develop alarms for patient sensors, signal quality, and external monitoring
  • Integrate hardware alarm interfaces, including muting, alarm-level validation, and telemetry
  • Design resilient fault-handling and recovery mechanisms
  • Develop power-on checks for logging, hardware compatibility, GPU status, and system self-tests
  • Implement fail-safe states and fault-management controls
  • Integrate watchdogs and system-supervision mechanisms
  • Enable interrupted-session detection and recovery
  • Build logging, audit trails, and log-rotation capabilities
  • Monitor operating-system telemetry, including power-button activity and storage health
  • Develop storage interfaces with atomic and checksummed writes
  • Manage reading, deletion, and session listing across fixed storage partitions
  • Implement patient-data packaging, queuing, flushing, retention, and retrieval
  • Support data backfill and presentation of historical data
  • Create versioned interfaces between backend data and the graphical user interface
  • Manage patient-sensor and session lifecycles
  • Support session metadata, recovery workflows, and graceful shutdown
  • Develop power-button handling and controlled power-down processes
  • Enable USB-based data export
  • Work with service tools and device-service handlers
  • Support software updates, confirmation, and rollback
  • Implement log extraction and audit logging
  • Own a self-contained application area from design through merged, tested, and documented code
  • Collaborate with the Software Architect and engineers responsible for adjacent components
  • Take responsibility for delivery within the assigned area

Requirements

  • Strong experience building modern C++17 applications for embedded Linux
  • Thorough knowledge of RAII, fixed-width types, std::atomic, multithreading, and lock-free or bounded queues
  • Background developing software where deterministic behaviour and reliability are essential
  • Experience with allocation-free or low-allocation runtime environments, preallocated memory, and fixed-capacity containers
  • Experience applying ports-and-adapters or hexagonal architecture, interfaces, and dependency injection
  • Strong Linux systems-integration experience covering services, watchdogs, and system-level fault management
  • Experience with IPC and serialization technologies such as FlatBuffers, Unix-domain sockets, or named pipes
  • Experience with CMake, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with cross-compilation, preferably for aarch64 platforms
  • Strong unit-testing experience, including code coverage and quality gates
  • Comfort working within formal engineering processes involving peer review, traceable changes, and documented design decisions
  • Experience developing safety-critical, mission-critical, or highly regulated software
  • Desirable: experience developing medical devices or other safety-critical systems
  • Desirable: knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or comparable regulated software standards
  • Desirable: experience with medical alarm systems or other alarm and fault-management systems
  • Desirable: understanding of IEC 60601-1-8 or an equivalent safety standard
  • Desirable: experience with state-machine-driven supervisors and fault-management systems
  • Desirable: experience with NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, or GPU-accelerated processing
  • Desirable: experience with Yocto and embedded Linux board-support packages
