Senior Azure Data Technical Architect (Pune, On-site)
Lead technical design and delivery of Azure data solutions for Merkle client projects. Guide ETL and SQL development, architecture, and small project teams.
Description
- Own technical solutions from bids through implementation, client delivery, and post-delivery support.
- Oversee daily technical delivery, solution architecture, and detailed technical design.
- Coach development and implementation teams and oversee technical delivery.
- Design straightforward to moderately complex client data solutions on Azure.
- Assess data warehouses, data marts, models, structures, databases, ingestion, and transformation.
- Turn technical requirements into ETL and SQL application code.
- Document project architecture and explain designs at both low and high levels.
- Prepare ETL and SQL development documentation using Visio, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office.
- Work with project managers, business analysts, and application DBAs to implement ETL solutions.
- Handle moderately complex and complex tasks independently.
- Support clients, data scientists, and analytical consultants on marketing solutions.
- Coordinate with internal teams across functions and with external clients.
- Lead one or two projects, each with teams of two to three members.
- Oversee code reviews, deployments, and code management systems.
- Work with QA and testing teams on efforts to reduce defects.
- Ensure development follows architecture standards and principles.
- Run proofs of concept on new platforms and assess proposed solutions.
- Set consistent software development processes, standards, and error recovery procedures.
- Assign and oversee SQL development work across the team.
- Develop technical solutions as well as gather requirements.
- Turn existing business requirements into technical designs and complete the development and build work.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field.
- Professional cloud technology certification; Azure Data Engineer certification is required.
- Database experience with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Azure SQL, or an equivalent platform.
- Data warehouse experience with Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, or an equivalent platform.
- Experience with at least two ETL tools, including Azure Data Factory or Databricks.
- Experience with Azure cloud platforms.
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, UNIX shell scripting, and project and resource management.
- Experience with SVN, Git, Jira, and automation workflows.
- Strong knowledge of data warehouses, data marts, data modeling, data structures, databases, ingestion, and transformation.
- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and their appropriate use cases.
- Ability to turn technical requirements into ETL and SQL application code.
- Proficiency with Visio, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of waterfall and agile software development methods.
- Availability to overlap with US-based teams, typically from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST as needed.
- Availability to work the 12 PM to 9 PM IST shift.
- Engineering and development skills, including technical design and implementation.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to lead projects with teams of two to three members.
