Semi-Skilled Painter - Pascagoula, MS (Onsite)

Prepare surfaces and apply marine coatings for naval vessels at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula. Operate blasting equipment and support ship production in an onsite shipyard environment.

Description

  • Support blasting and painting work with approved marine coating systems
  • Prepare surfaces to required specifications, including blast profiles and coating conditions
  • Apply coatings under supervision while developing proper thickness and application techniques
  • Operate blasting and painting equipment safely and efficiently
  • Work in shipyard settings that may involve heights, confined spaces, and changing weather
  • Meet production requirements across multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing operation
  • Apply Ingalls safety procedures consistently in all tasks and work areas
  • Help protect vessel structures from corrosion and extend their service life

Requirements

  • At least six months of experience as a painter or blaster
  • Practical experience with industrial painting, blasting, coatings, or a related trade
  • Basic knowledge of surface preparation and coating application
  • Ability to operate painting and blasting tools and equipment safely
  • Ability to complete all blasting requirements and functions using applicable methods
  • Ability to identify and correct blasting and painting deficiencies against contract specifications
  • Ability to connect airlines to the manifold and spray horizontally, vertically, and side to side
  • Ability to sandblast and demonstrate use of each component of the blasting equipment
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork
  • Willingness to work in an active industrial setting while continuing to develop painting skills
  • Willingness to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in changing weather conditions
  • Willingness to support production across multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
