Reservoir Engineer – Reno, Nevada (On-Site)

Support geothermal exploration, development, and operations through reservoir analysis, well testing, modeling, pump evaluation, and field performance optimization. This on-site Reno role contributes to Ormat’s renewable geothermal energy projects worldwide.

Description

  • Conduct reservoir engineering studies supporting the global exploration, development, and operation of geothermal resources
  • Promote workplace safety with a zero-incident objective
  • Serve as a technical authority while maintaining accurate, relevant work
  • Work independently and collaboratively to achieve measurable business results
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations using company tools, templates, and standards
  • Manage data and information in accordance with company systems and procedures
  • Lead project work and multidisciplinary teams
  • Deliver training and mentor colleagues
  • Support due diligence, joint ventures, stakeholder engagements, and industry forums
  • Develop new projects and business opportunities
  • Improve company tools, systems, and processes through innovation
  • Assess production and injection well performance, identify issues, and plan remedial work
  • Evaluate corrective measures, field-operation changes, power-generation revenue, and long-term resource performance
  • Gather reservoir data, interpret well logs and well tests, and build conceptual reservoir models
  • Support reservoir model design and optimize production and injection operations
  • Coordinate with operations staff, geologists, project managers, Ormat specialists, pump manufacturers, consultants, plant teams, field operations, and IT personnel
  • Plan, specify, design, supervise, analyze, and report on well tests, logs, pressure tests, and diagnostic procedures
  • Design and specify pumps for pumped production wells and assess their performance and service life
  • Record analyses, interpretations, diagnostic procedures, workovers, drilling activities, and operational changes
  • Maintain complete, accurate databases and operating records
  • Supply data and analysis to consultants and incorporate their findings
  • Undertake additional duties and projects assigned by management

Requirements

  • A relevant Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree is required
  • At least two years of experience in the industry or a related field
  • Experience spanning geothermal exploration, development, and operations
  • Deep understanding of essential components across relevant associated disciplines
  • Proficiency in well testing, test interpretation, conceptual modeling, and wellbore simulation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications
  • Ability to learn and use software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sufficient English reading, writing, and speaking ability to perform duties safely and effectively
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently
  • Careful, thorough approach that supports high-quality performance
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Ormat’s auto insurance carrier
  • Ability to work in offices, power plants, wellfields, and remote field environments
  • Ability to work outdoors in challenging weather and near hot pipes, drilling rigs, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to safely drive four-wheel-drive light vehicles on highways and off-road terrain
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to periodically lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including internationally
