Description

  • Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes accurately from clinical documentation and rendered services
  • Apply correct sequencing and modifiers while meeting payer and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and resolve coding errors, denials, and rejected claims
  • Record required claim documentation and system updates
  • Capture relevant additional data during chart-based coding reviews
  • Examine patient charts and supporting clinical documentation
  • Flag missing or incomplete records and coordinate provider queries
  • Track changes to coding standards, payer rules, and healthcare regulations
  • Help maintain clean claims and reliable billing outcomes
  • Work with Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Authorization teams
  • Meet established productivity and accuracy targets
  • Assist with audit preparation and compliance work
  • Take part in internal and client-led quality audits and reviews
  • Train, coach, and support billers on accurate coding and billing practices
  • Keep current with medical coding, billing, and audit procedures
  • Follow applicable team and client processes, policies, and methods

Requirements

  • Can handle confidential information responsibly
  • Medical allied-course graduate preferred, including nursing, physical therapy, or medical technology, but not required
  • Available for an initial six-month consultancy contract subject to renewal
  • One to three years of medical coding experience
  • Gastroenterology or same-day surgery experience is preferred
  • Holds an active coding credential such as CPC
  • Can adapt to different specialties and client assignments
  • Understands ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding
  • Collaborative team member who can assist, coach, and train billers on coding requirements
  • Able to share practical coding expertise with colleagues
  • Types 50 to 60 accurate keystrokes per minute
  • Demonstrates strong accuracy, attention to detail, and time management
  • Can work from home with reliable internet and a backup connection
