Description
- Hold regular one-to-ones with developers, offer feedback, and support their professional growth.
- Own team delivery by coordinating weekly with Product Managers and completing agreed work.
- Manage performance, including improvement plans and terminations when needed.
- Keep pull request reviews timely and thorough.
- Guide the team’s use of AI, from writing specifications and assigning work to agents through testing and reviewing results.
- Maintain existing projects while advancing new products.
- Support hiring and lead onboarding for new developers.
- Spend about 30% of your time coding and reviewing pull requests, contributing wherever programming is needed.
- Report to the CEO each week.
Requirements
- Experience leading software development teams and helping team members grow.
- Strong software development background and interest in continuing to code.
- Sound judgment when making difficult people-related decisions.
- Daily use of AI in software development, with a personal process for producing reliable results.
- A specification-first approach in which agents execute work followed by testing and final review.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Codex, or comparable tools.
- Clear communication with Product, Marketing, and company leadership.
- A product-focused, results-oriented approach.
- Experience with subscription products, SaaS, or high-volume B2C products is a plus.
- Experience with dating apps, startups, or fast-paced workplaces is a plus.
- Experience introducing AI into an entire engineering team’s development workflow is a plus.
