Description

  • Handle day-to-day local counsel matters and support national coordinating counsel work for high-profile clients.
  • Assess claims, exposure, and causation; shape defense strategies and contribute to case evaluation and resolution.
  • Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs.
  • Oversee discovery and contribute to expert development and strategy.
  • Prepare for and take depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Appear at court conferences and hearings.
  • Take part in mediations and settlement discussions.
  • Work with national and local counsel on trial strategy, witness preparation, evidentiary issues, and readiness for trial.
  • Coordinate with clients, insurers, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
  • Support efficient litigation management across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • An active license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least two years of experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort defense, or related complex litigation.
  • Experience with silica, benzene, or other toxic exposure claims is relevant.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analysis, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience in discovery, motion practice, depositions, and litigation strategy.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage competing priorities across matters and jurisdictions.
  • A proactive, collaborative, client-focused approach to litigation.
  • Willingness to work across jurisdictions and contribute to national litigation and trial preparation.
  • Bar admission in California, Illinois, New York, or Massachusetts is preferred.
  • Admission in additional jurisdictions is a plus.
