Project Engineer II, Systems Requirements – Dayton Hybrid

Lead systems requirements, project planning, and verification activities for Sierra Nevada Corporation’s next-generation SAOC aircraft. Support aerospace and national security mission execution through cross-functional engineering and customer coordination.

Description

  • Oversee project work across the full product lifecycle, from early design concepts through final delivery
  • Direct the creation, decomposition, and ongoing management of technical requirements
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability from customer needs through design, implementation, integration, and verification
  • Support Jama requirement baselines by maintaining their accuracy, completeness, and change control
  • Partner with Systems Engineering and cross-functional teams to clarify requirement intent and preserve systems engineering alignment
  • Help define verification methods that demonstrate requirements are testable
  • Offer authoritative technical direction for decisions involving requirements
  • Evaluate requirement changes and lead the Requirements Review Board
  • Create and maintain plans, schedules, and budgets for requirements development, maturation, and verification
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for external customers, subcontractors, and SAOC integrated product teams
  • Report on requirements maturity, compliance, risks, and verification status
  • Explain technical baseline updates and their implications for requirements
  • Detect and monitor requirement risks, gaps, and issues
  • Work with engineering leads and project managers to address risks across integrated product teams
  • Introduce project management process improvements and proven practices
  • Advance requirement development processes, tools, and workflows
  • Travel periodically to customer or field locations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline
  • More than 10 years of experience in engineering positions
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity
  • A more advanced relevant degree may replace some experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Background working on multidisciplinary design and development teams
  • Strong knowledge of requirements management, systems design, and integration
  • Experience using advanced project management tools and methods
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design and development teams while communicating with program management and customers
  • Familiarity with preparing project estimates and technical proposals, as well as managing program costs and schedules
  • Demonstrated experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development environments, including integrated trade studies and alternatives analysis
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures
  • Experience with or certification in an International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense sector
  • Active Secret U.S. security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid setting
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
  • Capacity for extended computer-based work
  • Manual dexterity for keyboard and computer use
  • Ability to work in potentially hazardous conditions when visiting project sites
