Principal Instrument Engineer – Aberdeen Hybrid

Lead instrumentation engineering for Wood’s brownfield Oil & Gas modifications portfolio supporting a North Sea client in a hybrid Aberdeen role. Oversee technical scopes, design, budgets, planning, and a small engineering team.

Description

  • Support the ongoing modifications portfolio for a North Sea client
  • Provide instrumentation engineering expertise to the project team
  • Define and approve technical scopes
  • Advise the business and project team on instrumentation discipline matters
  • Deliver facility engineering design in line with applicable codes and standards
  • Identify scope and schedule changes through the Change Control Process
  • Maintain planning and cost control across all scopes
  • Provide discipline guidance and coordinate delivery with remote colleagues in Global Execution Centres
  • Participate in SIL assessments and workshops
  • Lead and manage a small team, including junior engineers and Global Execution Centre engineers
  • Manage budgets and project planning
  • Work closely with client personnel while operating largely under own direction

Requirements

  • MSc, MEng, or equivalent professional qualification, or BSc, BEng, or equivalent with extensive relevant brownfield Oil & Gas modifications experience
  • Chartered Engineer status or an equivalent professional recognition is preferred but not required
  • Proven industrial experience at the appropriate level and in a comparable position
  • Brownfield Oil & Gas experience with field instrumentation and control systems
  • Ability to interpret client standards and contribute to package specifications
  • Proficiency in the specialist software required for the role
  • Knowledge of international codes and client standards
  • Knowledge of plant PCS, automation, and industrial communications systems
  • Awareness of functional safety principles
  • Experience applying HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL processes
  • Ability to work within applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality systems
