Principal Civil Engineer, Rail CRE – Glasgow Hybrid
Lead the design and technical delivery of sustainable UK rail infrastructure projects at Arcadis. Oversee multidisciplinary teams, develop client solutions, and ensure compliance with Network Rail requirements.
Description
- Lead and develop members of the design team
- Direct technical delivery of rail projects from concept through completion while maintaining quality and compliance
- Promote best practice in safety, health, and environmental performance across project activities
- Work with local and global multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Serve as a principal client contact by providing project updates and resolving technical issues
- Provide technical direction and approve design deliverables and interdisciplinary reviews
- Develop and present technical proposals, recommendations, and solutions for clients and stakeholders
- Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of analysis, design documentation, and technical reports
- Assist with project commercial management and keep project records accurate
- Maintain CPD and help strengthen the capability and development of the wider team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Background delivering rail infrastructure projects and leading design teams
- Demonstrated experience working as a Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) on Network Rail projects
- Thorough understanding of Eurocodes and Network Rail standards
- Experience using LUSAS, MIDAS, Bentley products, and ProjectWise
- Track record delivering projects involving stations, structures, and lineside ancillary assets
- Understanding of site surveys, construction challenges, and CDM Regulations
- Strong technical communication, report-writing, and client-facing abilities
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progress toward chartership is desirable
