Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) – Remote, United States

Maintain and optimize enterprise Oracle databases, including availability, security, performance, backup, and recovery. Support Oracle environments for Enterprise Horizon Consulting Group’s consulting operations.

Description

  • Administer and support Oracle databases across production enterprise environments
  • Provision, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems
  • Perform database backups, recoveries, and restorations
  • Manage Oracle RMAN backup and recovery operations
  • Support Oracle Grid and high-availability/disaster-recovery environments
  • Plan and carry out database maintenance and patching
  • Monitor database availability, capacity, performance, and overall health
  • Investigate database incidents and determine root causes
  • Tune database and SQL performance using system metrics
  • Implement and test failover and disaster-recovery procedures
  • Create scripts and automation for recurring DBA tasks
  • Support database security, encryption, auditing, and access controls
  • Handle ServiceNow incidents, requests, and Requests for Change (RFCs)
  • Assist with SQL and Oracle database development and application integration
  • Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure and application teams, and customer personnel
  • Maintain technical documentation and contribute to weekly activity reports
  • Participate in scheduled after-hours database maintenance when required

Requirements

  • At least four years of database administration experience
  • Hands-on experience administering Oracle databases
  • Practical experience with Oracle Database
  • Experience using Oracle RMAN
  • Experience with Oracle Grid
  • Experience with PL/SQL
  • Experience managing backup and recovery
  • Experience with database patching
  • Experience tuning database performance
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting
  • Experience supporting high-availability and disaster-recovery environments
  • Experience with database security
  • Experience developing scripts and automation
  • Proven troubleshooting and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within technical teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Oracle professional certification is preferred
  • Federal government IT experience is preferred
  • OCI or cloud database experience is preferred
  • ServiceNow experience is preferred
  • SolarWinds and/or Idera experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access is preferred
