Mid-Senior Internal Auditor - Poland (Hybrid)

Part-time internal audit role for a regulated crypto and payments fintech, covering third-line reviews of MiCA, PSD2, AML and DORA controls. Reports independently to the Management Board.

Description

  • Own and maintain a risk-based Internal Audit Plan covering MiCA CASP and PSD2 PI obligations, AML/KYC/CTF, DORA ICT and security, client-asset custody and segregation, safeguarding, outsourcing, third-party risk, governance and financial controls
  • Lead audits from planning through control testing, sampling, severity assessment and regulatory-impact ratings
  • Prepare Board-ready reports with clear findings and practical recommendations
  • Secure remediation plans with accountable owners and deadlines, then verify closure using supporting evidence
  • Report findings and remediation progress to the Management Board through quarterly updates and the annual Internal Audit Report
  • Deliver and follow up on the annual independent AML/CFT audit and DORA ICT framework audit
  • Scope and oversee external specialists, challenging their work where engagements require advanced technical testing
  • Maintain audit evidence for regulatory supervision reviews and inspections
  • Own the audit function independently while maintaining a functional reporting line to the Management Board
  • Operate within the existing Board-approved Charter, Audit Universe, Internal Audit Plan and findings register

Requirements

  • At least five years of internal audit or internal control experience within a regulated financial services organization
  • Practical audit experience in at least one fintech, payment institution, EMI, crypto exchange or VASP
  • Working knowledge of at least two of MiCA, PSD2, AMLD5/6 and DORA
  • Strong command of AML/KYC/CTF frameworks and methods for evaluating their effectiveness
  • Demonstrated independence, including presenting critical findings to senior management or a Board
  • Ability to manage engagements independently and defend professional judgments on control severity
  • Sufficient ICT and information-security audit expertise to scope a DORA engagement and oversee or challenge an external technical specialist
  • Fluent professional English
  • Documented experience using AI tools in audit work
  • Right to work and maintain tax residence in the EU/EEA
  • Eligible for appointment to an internal control function at a licensed entity
  • Post-authorisation MiCA CASP audit experience is preferred
  • Experience auditing PSD2/EMI safeguarding, own funds and scheme compliance is preferred
  • ICT and information-security audit experience involving DLT infrastructure, wallet security and key management is preferred
  • DORA operational resilience, outsourcing and third-party risk audit experience is preferred
  • Experience auditing custody and segregation of client assets is preferred
  • Travel rule audit experience is preferred
  • Experience working with a Baltic or another EU financial supervisor is preferred
  • Board- or regulator-facing communication experience is preferred
  • CIA, CISA, ACCA or an EU-recognized internal audit qualification is preferred
  • Russian or Latvian language skills are preferred
