Material Handling Technician – Saint Joseph, MO (Onsite)
Ventura Foods is hiring an onsite Material Handling Technician in Saint Joseph to move, track, and prepare raw materials for production. The role involves forklift operation, RF scanning, inventory updates, and warehouse support.
Description
- Pull raw materials from warehouse locations according to product and quantity requirements for customer orders
- Record every material transaction in the RF system
- Use an RF scanner to return leftover materials to their designated warehouse locations
- Move materials between warehouse and production areas
- Weigh returned materials and update inventory records with accurate quantities and weights
- Create and assign new pallet identification tags
- Count materials using basic arithmetic, a calculator, and metric weight conversions
- Shrink-wrap palletized materials for processing in the prep room
- Scan the correct identification tags onto all materials selected for production
- Report material shortages so replenishment can support customer order deadlines
- Handle additional general duties as assigned
Requirements
- Prior production or warehouse experience is preferred
- Able to work in refrigerated areas
- Able to lift at least 60 pounds
- Experience operating an RF scanner
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to perform basic calculations and use the metric system
- Able to manage multiple tasks based on priority
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Licensed to operate a forklift or hand truck
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- At least two years of experience in production, warehousing, or distribution
- Able to pass the required skills and written tests for sit-down and/or stand-up forklift certification
- Strong mathematical ability
- Computer literate, preferably with RF Smart experience
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively
- Able to wear required personal protective equipment
- Available for typical 8–12-hour shifts, including potential unscheduled after-hours and weekend work
- Able to work in extreme temperatures and around possible vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens, confined or dark areas, and heights exceeding 18 feet
