Maintenance Technician | Perfetti Van Melle | Erlanger, KY

Maintain electrical, mechanical, and automated packaging systems at Perfetti Van Melle’s Erlanger confectionery facility. The role covers preventive maintenance, PLC troubleshooting, production support, and safe equipment operation.

Description

  • Keep high-speed packaging and end-of-line automation equipment safe, reliable, and production-ready
  • Complete preventive maintenance and repairs across electrical and mechanical production systems
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance and guidance to supervisors and production teams
  • Contribute to safety initiatives, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, 5S, and ISO audit activities
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic equipment
  • Diagnose and repair programmable and numerical controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and testing equipment
  • Install, commission, and shut down equipment in line with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements
  • Train and advise operators and line mechanics on safe equipment use and work practices
  • Report emerging equipment issues, hazards, and operational risks to management and line mechanics
  • Troubleshoot three-phase motors, PLC applications, electrical equipment, and control circuits
  • Install and maintain variable-frequency drives, HMIs, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and compressed-air equipment
  • Carry out scheduled inspections, lubrication, filter changes, and repair or replacement of worn parts
  • Use computer systems that control and monitor mechanical equipment and utility systems
  • Keep work areas clean and organized while complying with GMP and safety requirements
  • Complete maintenance checklists and keep scheduled-maintenance documentation current
  • Maintain high-speed flow wrappers, vertical baggers, and pick-and-place robots
  • Execute and document preventive maintenance activities in the CMMS
  • Handle additional assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead

Requirements

  • At least five years of demonstrated experience across electrical or electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Related combinations of education and work experience may be considered
  • A certificate in applied electrical maintenance or an associate degree in electronics is preferred
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Food manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of general safety, lockout/tagout, HAZMAT, scissor-lift safety, electrostatic discharge, foreign-object damage, and quality systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic components and diagnostic instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, OEM instructions, and specifications
  • Knowledge of NFPA 40E standards
  • Working experience with personal computers and peripheral equipment
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and smell
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull wheeled carts weighing 350 pounds
  • Adequate close, distance, and peripheral vision
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform other job functions
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel between facilities are preferred
