Level 5 Full-Stack Software Engineer at Snap Inc. (Los Angeles, Onsite)

Build performant web applications, interfaces, and scalable services for Snap’s Snapchat technology ecosystem. Work across JavaScript, backend technologies, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Description

  • Develop advanced web applications and software systems for desktop and mobile experiences
  • Apply rigorous design and implementation practices throughout development
  • Create features and interfaces that improve the performance of user-facing products
  • Strengthen Snap’s engineering culture through contributions to shared libraries and systems
  • Track and evaluate operational and engagement metrics
  • Use AI tools and rapid engineering practices to design and deliver scalable services while maintaining code correctness, security, and production quality
  • Work collaboratively in person under Snap’s “default together” model

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 6 years of post-bachelor’s software development experience, or 5+ years after a technical master’s degree, or 2+ years after a relevant technical PhD
  • Professional experience developing full-stack web applications
  • Advanced proficiency with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Advanced proficiency with one or more of Java, Go, Node.js, and Python
  • Experience building front-end applications with React, Angular, Vue, or comparable JavaScript UI frameworks
  • Strong command of object-oriented and functional programming concepts
  • Working knowledge of domain-driven design
  • Solid understanding of unit testing practices
  • Background in front-end design or web application development
  • Experience implementing user interface components
  • Experience improving JavaScript performance and browser layout rendering
  • Ability to diagnose and correct performance and scalability problems
  • Skill in using AI tools and reviewing generated code for architectural soundness, performance constraints, and security concerns
  • Ability to learn and adopt evolving AI systems and tools
  • Preferred: experience with WebGL, Canvas, WebAssembly, Service Workers, or other advanced front-end technologies
  • Preferred: experience with GraphQL
  • Preferred: experience operating large-scale microservices and distributed systems
  • Preferred: experience with NoSQL, Memcache or Redis, Kubernetes, or Google and AWS services
