Lead Software Engineer, Enterprise Platforms — Charlotte Onsite

Lead the development of secure, scalable enterprise platform services at Truist. Build Kubernetes-based automation, policy enforcement, and highly available developer platform capabilities.

Description

  • Design and deliver enterprise platform software services for secure, scalable, policy-controlled production environments
  • Develop and maintain control-plane components, event-driven automation, and policy-as-code enforcement engines
  • Unify self-service developer tools with governance controls and observability capabilities
  • Build resilient, highly available architectures using fault-tolerance patterns
  • Use API-first design, microservices, and CI/CD automation
  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise infrastructure platforms spanning cloud, networking, databases, storage, computing, middleware, and platform services
  • Create automation, monitoring, and optimization approaches that improve infrastructure availability and performance
  • Lead infrastructure projects and programs aligned with organizational strategy and regulatory obligations
  • Work with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure performance and reliability problems
  • Maintain compliance with technology strategies, standards, governance controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate infrastructure designs, configurations, and operating procedures
  • Guide, train, and direct infrastructure teams and less-experienced technical professionals
  • Influence stakeholders to advance business and technical priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of professional infrastructure engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies across cloud, networking, databases, storage, platforms, computing, and middleware
  • Experience in financial services, especially regulated environments governed by FFIEC, SOX, NIST 800-53, or PCI frameworks
  • Strong Python with FastAPI and/or Java skills
  • Experience deploying production microservices on Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Hands-on experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Rego
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, Confluent Schema Registry, and event-driven architecture
  • Experience applying resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, bulkheads, backoff retries, dead-letter queues, and graceful degradation
  • Experience with horizontal scaling, connection pooling, caching, and performance optimization
  • Proficiency building GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Backstage developer portal workflows
  • Working knowledge of HashiCorp Vault
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Splunk, and distributed tracing tools such as Jaeger or Tempo
  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure, Terraform, and Ansible
  • Experience with container security practices, including Cosign, CycloneDX, and container scanning pipelines
  • Industry certification such as CKA, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, HashiCorp Certified Vault Associate, or an equivalent credential
  • Previous work on internal developer platforms or enterprise-scale platform engineering initiatives
  • Experience using AI coding agents and assistants such as GitLab Duo or GitHub Copilot
  • Fluency in English
