Lead Financial Analyst

Lead complex accounting analysis, reporting, and controls while supporting Credit Acceptance’s vehicle financing business. Deliver strategic financial insights and guide cross-functional work.

Description

  • Conduct complex financial analysis, accounting research, internal reporting, and strategic business support.
  • Check monthly general ledger entries for accuracy and adequate documentation.
  • Interpret accounting guidance and put policies and procedures into practice.
  • Assess the accounting impact of strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Analyze and explain variances in general ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Enhance financial reporting processes and outputs.
  • Create useful financial analyses for Finance leaders and executives.
  • Review complex monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain reliable monthly internal financial reports.
  • Work with business leaders to share financial insights.
  • Verify that internal controls are appropriately designed and working effectively.
  • Maintain control documentation, including policies, procedures, and flowcharts.
  • Conduct quarterly self-assessments.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen controls, lower risk, improve efficiency, and automate manual work.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements.
  • Direct complex projects across Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Coach analysts and colleagues, and provide subject matter guidance.
  • Act as the functional lead for assigned accounting and reporting processes.
  • Help allocate team workloads and review complex analyses and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Manager to deliver accurate, timely work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 8 years of related finance and accounting experience.
  • Experience leading complex projects, initiatives, or workstreams.
  • Experience researching accounting matters and interpreting U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience preparing financial analysis for executive audiences.
  • Experience designing and implementing process improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Required degrees must be from accredited higher education institutions.
  • Must not need current or future sponsorship to work legally for Credit Acceptance.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Preferred: CPA or equivalent credential, such as Chartered Accountant.
  • Preferred: Experience using financial models and business cases to influence strategic decisions.
  • Preferred: Experience in insurance or financial services.
  • Preferred: Accounting experience at a large national or regional CPA firm.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Access.
