Description
- Create high- and low-level architectures for large-scale applications
- Design and build reliable, highly available distributed web applications with Java and J2EE
- Develop multithreaded, distributed microservices with Spring Boot and Spring MVC
- Partner across teams to modernize legacy applications with current frameworks, architectures, and design patterns
- Manage application source code through CI/CD pipelines
- Apply security practices throughout the software lifecycle, including shift-left controls and vulnerability remediation
- Independently handle programming, project management, and development assignments
- Investigate and resolve complex application and technical issues, including off-shift and weekend support
- Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure supporting one or more applications
- Guide development toward features that deliver business value
- Define software quality practices and coding standards
- Identify opportunities for team development and promote continuous improvement
- Work with end users and internal customers to guide development, debugging, and testing
- Plan and execute integrated and customer acceptance testing
Requirements
- More than 14 years of application development experience with Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate or Spring Data JPA, Spring WebFlux, Spring Modulith, OpenAPI, and Liquibase or Flyway
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and high- and low-level architecture designs
- Experience across application design, analysis, programming, integration, debugging, testing, and implementation
- Experience building web applications with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React or Angular
- Ability to diagnose technical problems and recommend effective solutions
- Experience architecting large-scale systems for performance, scalability, availability, reliability, and fault tolerance
- Experience building event-driven applications with Kafka, SQS, or Pub/Sub models
- Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot for software development and testing, as well as AI or GenAI for automation
- Experience developing microservices in Docker- and Kubernetes-based containerized architectures using established design patterns
- Ability to learn modern technologies quickly and apply them within an enterprise context
- Strong understanding of source code management strategies using Git and comparable tools
- Experience with GitLab, GitHub, or Azure Repos
- Experience writing application unit tests with tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or Bruno
- Experience improving application performance through caching and related techniques
- Experience applying application security practices and deploying workloads on AWS
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation, ECS Fargate, RDS, ALB, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, and API Gateway
- Experience remediating vulnerabilities and automating security controls in application development
- Experience with DevOps and security tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, and comparable platforms
- Understanding of modern web application security threats and recommended security practices
- Understanding of REST, GraphQL, and gRPC
- Familiarity with at least two databases, including options such as DB2 and PostgreSQL
- Basic knowledge of networking for Java or J2EE hosting, including load balancing, DNS, HTTP, and SSL/TLS
- Preferred familiarity with APIGee, SAFe, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, corporate security compliance and remediation, Azure or AWS, cloud security policies, SonarQube, CodeQL, Rapid7, Artifactory or XRay, and Fortify
