IT Systems Engineer, Darmstadt (Hybrid)
Manage Darmstadt’s IT infrastructure, security controls, automation, and employee support. Help operate the technology environment supporting Focused Energy’s laser-driven nuclear fusion work.
Description
- Manage and maintain Darmstadt’s IT environment, covering MDM, endpoint protection, cloud services, device lifecycles, and access controls
- Drive scripting and automation work that removes repetitive tasks and strengthens day-to-day efficiency
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, from account creation and device preparation to access changes and revocation
- Help enforce MFA, harden endpoints, apply patches, conduct access reviews, and respond to security events
- Create and maintain system records, configurations, support procedures, and operational runbooks
- Analyze recurring incidents and their root causes, then deliver durable technical fixes
- Support initiatives involving MDM consolidation, cloud migrations, DLP, EDR, and centralized device management
- Assist Darmstadt employees while coordinating shared infrastructure with the broader IT function
- Route architectural updates, security incidents, and vendor-related decisions to the appropriate stakeholders
- Work with teams in Berlin and Austin, external vendors, service providers, and People Operations
Requirements
- Background in IT systems engineering spanning endpoint administration, cloud services, identity and access management, and core networking
- Hands-on expertise with MDM solutions and device lifecycle administration for Windows and macOS
- Working knowledge of endpoint security, EDR and DLP products, endpoint hardening, patching, and MFA controls
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune or a comparable MDM solution
- Experience using Box, Atlassian products including Jira and Confluence, access management systems, and cloud infrastructure services
- Ability to automate administrative work with PowerShell, Python, or a comparable scripting language
- Knowledge of ITIL-based incident and change processes, root-cause investigation, and documentation-led operations
- Understanding of GDPR obligations relevant to German IT environments, along with rigorous access review and security practices
- Clear English communication skills; German proficiency is advantageous
- Work authorization in the United States or Germany is covered in the application form
