Inspector 2 - Aerospace Manufacturing (Onsite, Forest, Ohio)

Inspect aerospace components, assemblies, and incoming materials for Triumph Group’s aviation and defense manufacturing operations. Perform blueprint-based measurements, quality checks, documentation, and defect reporting.

Description

  • Inspect parts, subassemblies, completed assemblies, and incoming materials.
  • Verify part fit before welding and brazing.
  • Check weldments, part placement, template dimensions, and blueprint compliance.
  • Inspect incoming materials against purchase specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Identify and report defective materials and questionable conditions to supervision.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Follow established safety procedures.
  • Keep the workplace and equipment free of foreign object debris.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Sweep and dust floors, tables, and equipment.
  • Move parts manually or with suitable handling equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to support quality objectives.

Requirements

  • Read and write effectively, interpret measurements and readings, and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Read and understand blueprints and work process instructions.
  • Move parts and equipment safely.
  • Work effectively in a team and willingly assist, educate, and train others.
  • Use hand tools and inspection gauges.
  • Follow applicable safety and health regulations, including respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs when required.
  • Meet FAA requirements for a safety-sensitive position.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States required.
  • Read simple blueprints and specifications.
  • Use basic measuring tools.
  • Understand AQL levels and their role in inspection criteria.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and eye-hand coordination.
  • Pass vision testing.
  • High school or technical school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in mechanical or manufacturing technology is a plus.
  • At least five years of quality inspection or machining experience, including final, source, and in-process inspection, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, gauges, micrometers, borescopes, and other measuring tools.
  • Problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Experience with AS9100-compliant quality management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection Report requirements preferred.
  • Apply geometry and trigonometry to solve problems and calibrate equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • For applicable U.S. export-controlled positions, qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR or be eligible for approval for a U.S. Government export license.
