Infrastructure Security Engineer (Remote - United States)

Milliman is seeking an Infrastructure Security Engineer to protect enterprise infrastructure, networks, and remote-access systems. The role focuses on firewalls, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, and technology services supporting a global consulting organization.

Description

  • Engineer, administer, maintain, and enhance Milliman’s infrastructure platforms
  • Advise on and implement changes across data centers, network architecture, and enterprise systems
  • Monitor infrastructure and network environments for configuration issues
  • Increase system visibility, coordinate timely remediation, and escalate risks to the appropriate teams
  • Administer and optimize firewalls, web gateways, segmentation technologies, and remote-access systems
  • Manage and troubleshoot firewall rules, access control lists, and policy updates
  • Deploy and administer secure remote-access solutions, VPN technologies, and Zero Trust Network Access capabilities
  • Remediate vulnerabilities and implement hardening and secure configuration baselines across operating systems, virtual machines, network devices, and other infrastructure
  • Partner with GCS IT, GCS IS, practice IT teams, and application owners
  • Develop secure-by-default system patterns that support delivery requirements
  • Maintain infrastructure environments and help compile audit evidence
  • Contribute to control validation activities and risk assessments
  • Resolve remediation actions and maintain documentation covering security standards, system configurations, and operating procedures
  • Report to the GCS IT Manager of Infrastructure

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in network infrastructure, systems engineering, or a related security-oriented position
  • At least three years of hands-on experience securing enterprise infrastructure, including servers, data centers, firewalls, network controls, identity platforms, and cloud-connected environments
  • Practical experience with proxy technologies, VPNs, secure remote access, and Zero Trust Network Access solutions
  • Experience implementing, administering, troubleshooting, and optimizing firewall ACLs, access control systems, and network proxy platforms
  • Experience managing and remediating vulnerabilities in Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of identity and access management, including least privilege, multifactor authentication, privileged access controls, and role-based access
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to convert security risks into actionable technical measures
  • Willingness to travel to data centers
  • Preferred experience with system logging, endpoint detection and response, orchestration and automation, intrusion detection and prevention, and observability platforms such as Splunk, Grafana, or LogicMonitor
  • Preferred understanding of security frameworks and standards
  • Preferred experience with Cisco, Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Preferred availability for evening and weekend work when required or directed
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future immigration support or sponsorship
