Head of Finance

Description

  • Bring accounting in-house and manage monthly close and consolidation across New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
  • Oversee compliance and intercompany processes across all entities.
  • Manage accounts payable and payroll across all entities.
  • Own finance systems, including the ERP, billing integration, sales tax tools, and the authoritative source of financial metrics.
  • Design automated, AI-supported processes for close, reconciliations, accounts payable, reporting, and compliance calendars.
  • Establish financial controls, approval processes, and delegated authority.
  • Manage accounting for the deployed camera fleet, including the asset register, capitalization, depreciation, recovery, and write-offs.
  • Oversee regional inventory, including stock counts, valuation, landed costs, and provisions.
  • Manage tariffs, customs, and duties on hardware imports.
  • Monitor camera unit economics and cash invested in fleet growth.
  • Improve working capital.
  • Manage revenue recognition for bundled hardware, software, installation, services, and partner or channel arrangements.
  • Lead and develop the Billing Analyst; oversee invoicing, collections, DSO, deferred revenue, and credit risk.
  • Manage cash, runway reporting, banking, foreign exchange exposure, and debt facilities.
  • Reconcile ARR, NRR, gross margin, and burn multiple with the general ledger.
  • Build and maintain the budget, forecast, and scenario model with the CEO and external finance partner.
  • Provide monthly budget-versus-actual reports to leadership owners.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financials for board packs.
  • Support pricing and deal analysis, and identify commercial and credit risks before contracts are signed.
  • Manage statutory accounts and entity filings in every jurisdiction.
  • Provide regular reports to existing investors.
  • Prepare for investor diligence and future fundraising, including diligence materials and the data room.
  • Manage equity administration and the cap table, including US 409A valuations when required.
  • Manage tax compliance in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
  • Manage transfer pricing, intercompany processes, and related documentation.
  • Manage R&D tax incentive claims.
  • Oversee insurance across all regions, including broker relationships, renewals, coverage, and certificates.
  • Work closely with the CEO, external advisors, Automation Engineer, and Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Travel to North America periodically.

Requirements

  • Hold a CA or CPA qualification.
  • Have at least 10 years of finance experience.
  • Have at least 3 years leading a finance function in a high-growth business.
  • Have previously brought outsourced accounting in-house.
  • Have experience with hardware-as-a-service, leasing, or accounting for bundled hardware and subscriptions.
  • Have consolidated multiple entities across at least three jurisdictions.
  • Have experience with US entity accounting and reconciling US GAAP with IFRS.
  • Have guided a business through investor diligence or a full external audit.
  • Have owned finance systems, rather than only used them.
  • Have automated finance processes and use AI in your day-to-day work.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Experience with inventory, landed costs, and physical product cost of goods sold is a strong advantage.
  • Transfer pricing and intercompany experience in a multinational group is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with channel or partner revenue arrangements is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Canadian or US entities is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Xero at multi-entity scale is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Chargebee and HubSpot is a strong advantage.
