Group Financial Controller - Hybrid Australia

Lead financial control, statutory reporting and ERP governance for Pacific Smiles Group’s national dental network. Oversee consolidation, audit, compliance, cash management and finance team capability.

Description

  • Lead the financial control framework across Pacific Smiles Group’s branded dental network
  • Safeguard the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations against subsidiary ledgers and supporting records
  • Ensure bank transactions are posted and reconciled, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Administer electronic banking platforms and fixed asset registers
  • Manage Group tax accounting requirements
  • Direct group consolidation, intercompany eliminations and reconciliations across current entities and acquisitions
  • Manage acquisition accounting under AASB 3 and support purchase price allocation exercises
  • Lead finance improvement programs and wider organisational initiatives
  • Provide monthly reporting on cash management performance
  • Prepare short- and long-term forecasts for Group cash flow requirements
  • Support the collection of debtor balances within agreed credit terms
  • Administer debt facilities in line with covenant requirements
  • Ensure Group tax liabilities are accurately calculated and paid by their deadlines
  • Oversee half-year and annual financial reporting
  • Manage external auditor relationships and coordinate audits from planning through completion
  • Manage ASIC statutory lodgements for Beam group entities
  • Respond to ad hoc financial reporting requirements
  • Identify, evaluate and manage financial risks
  • Maintain adherence to internal controls, policies and external regulations
  • Report financial governance compliance to the CFO and relevant committees, including the ARMC
  • Execute the financial internal audit plan and address control deficiencies
  • Develop, review and implement finance policies and procedures
  • Oversee the Pronto ERP platform, chart of accounts and system controls across Group entities
  • Lead the onboarding of new entities into Pronto
  • Work with IT to resolve finance system issues and deliver upgrades and integrations
  • Promote team engagement and clarify aligned responsibilities
  • Distribute workloads fairly and monitor team performance
  • Build team capability, develop talent and strengthen succession depth

Requirements

  • Tertiary accounting qualifications with CA or CPA credentials
  • At least 8–10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in a senior financial accounting or financial controller position
  • Background in a multi-entity or private equity-backed organisation
  • Advanced technical knowledge of AASB standards, including consolidation, financial instrument recognition and statutory reporting
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance regulation, compliance and reporting obligations
  • Experience leading finance teams in complex, multi-entity or compliance-intensive settings with an M&A growth strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative, results-focused relationships across diverse teams
  • Self-directed and committed to ongoing improvement
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
  • Big Four or mid-tier public practice experience is advantageous
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation platforms is advantageous
  • Experience with Pronto ERP or a comparable mid-market ERP in a multi-entity environment is advantageous
  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Blue Card required for paid employment in Dental in QLD
